Create a “WELCOME” sign for your front porch. It’s perfect for the holiday season, or year round. This project is on the easier side, and it is very rewarding. Follow the step-by-step below and let us know how it goes in the comment section below!

How to Make a Welcome Sign

  1. sand

Using your MOUSE® Detail Sander, sand the edges of your board until they are slightly rounded and soft. Brush off any excess dust before moving on to next step.

  2. stain

Stain wood using a foam brush.

Wipe any excess stain away with an extra foam brush or sponge. For a darker color, add additional layers of stain after the first layer has dried. It can take anywhere from 1-8 hours for your stain to dry. Ours dried quickly outside in the sun – it only took about an hour.

Just make sure that before you move on to next steps, the stain is dry to the touch. (Wait a full 24 hours before leaving your finished project outside for decoration.)

  3. measure

Using a pencil, we marked our letters about ½ an inch apart from each other. To do this, we placed our first letter (W) 2" from the top of the wood, then measured again so that we could place the top of the “E” ½ an inch away from the bottom of the “W”, and so on, to spell “WELCOME”.

  4. pilot hole

Using your 12V MAX* Cordless Lithium Drill/Driver and a #8 drill bit, drill 1-2 pilot holes in each wooden letter.

  5. drilling

Using the 12V MAX* Cordless Lithium Drill/Driver and brass screws, screw the letters to the wood.

  6. paint scrw

Paint the screws the same color as your letters for a cleaner look.

  7. Welcome Sign

Lean up again a sturdy wall, or your front stoop, and enjoy your festive homemade sign!
